Honor

Eagle named his songs in a special way. He always honored the Great Spirit, Mother Earth, the Grandmothers and the Grandfathers, the Moon, and the beings on Mother Earth.

The Great Spirit is always honored at any gathering. Honor songs are played following the Grand Entry where those of status lead the procession into meetings, conferences, powwows. Honor songs are sung with the beat of a hand drum or by a circle of drummers. Eagle stepped out of tradition and honored the Great Spirit with his Native flute. Respect. Eagle recorded three Honor songs: (You will note that these songs are the first songs on the respective CDs.)

Honor. Respect. Eagle was always focused on respect. Respect for Great Spirit, Mother Earth, the Grandmothers and the Grandfathers – and for all beings. Being thankful was a priority in his showing respect. Being thankful to Great Spirit and Mother Earth for all they provide. Being thankful for the guidance and support of the Grandmothers and the Grandfathers, our Spirit Guides, and our mentors. And Eagle was always guided and provided for by the Universe. He lived his life in the traditional way and said he was always provided for. He appreciated everything he received.

The Honor Song.
